I’ve recently been asked whether the most efficient fat-burning strategy is doing my weights first or cardio first.
If you are pressed for time and can only afford to train once a day, then getting the most “bang for your buck” is crucial. To burn extra fat, almost all fitness experts in the world would say; hit the weights first and I’d generally agree with that strategy.
Post workout cardio, sets you up to have more energy for your weights and to have the proper hormonal response for muscle growth, which also prepares your fat stores to be burned faster.
Mix up the Cardio Workouts
If you have been doing your cardio first, switch it around and your body will tone up quickly.
Interval Training is excellent for burning fat around the hips, thighs or “love handles”. However, the best results will come from doing the opposite of what you've allowed your body to adapt to. The human body is very good at adjusting to whatever exercise challenge we set it; over time it starts to do that exercise more efficiently, and expends less.
So if you've been doing 30 minutes of long slow cardio after your weights, start doing 20-minutes of interval cardio training before your weights and I guarantee you'll be pleasantly surprised when you're down another 5 kgs.
Consistency is the key, but be consistent in changing irregularly too
